The minimum depends on the purchase price and your financing. For a home priced at $500,000 or less, the minimum is generally 5%. From $500,000 to $1.5 million, it is 5% of the first $500,000 plus 10% of the portion above $500,000. Homes priced at $1.5 million or more generally require at least 20%. Your lender or mortgage broker can confirm what applies to you, including closing costs and qualification requirements.
